1. House Department Management
Assist the Head of Boarding in managing the boarding team,
Support the resolution of challenges within the boarding team.
Organize and attend weekly boarding team meetings, fostering clear communication and effective collaboration.
2. Student Activities and Well-being
Develop and implement a robust program of educational and recreational activities to enhance student well-being in boarding.
Collaborate with the boarding team to create activity plans and coordinate logistics with relevant colleagues.
Plan and execute and record fire drills to ensure the safety and preparedness of boarding students and staff.
Oversee dormitory arrangements for new students and coordinate transfers when necessary.
Promote positive transitions-care programming to support students arriving and leaving the boarding community.
3. Student Support and Guidance
Demonstrate a genuine interest in the well-being of boarding students and operate within our tiered intervention structure.
Assist students in creating healthy and sustainable personal schedules and habits.
Promote a positive approach to communal living tasks and activities.
4. Student Behaviour Management
Monitor and track student behaviour cases and provide consistent, culturally inclusive approaches to behaviour management.
Hold discussions with students exhibiting poor behaviour and provide guidance toward improvement.
Facilitate and record parent meetings, offering translation support when required.
Ensure high-quality care is provided to boarding students of all ages, meeting individual and group needs.
5. Communication and Collaboration
Communicate openly and effectively with students regarding expectations and routines for the smooth operation of the Boarding House.
Act as a liaison between boarding staff, students, parents, and other departments, ensuring clear and effective communication.
Send regular updates to parents about boarding activities, student progress, and upcoming events.
6. Administrative Responsibilities
Maintain accurate records of boarding student attendance, behaviour incidents, and pastoral care interactions.
Prepare reports for the Head of Boarding or school leadership, summarizing key data such as student statistics, activity participation, and behavioural trends.
Manage and maintain an inventory of boarding house supplies, including bedding, stationery, and activity materials.
Process reimbursements and payments for boarding-related purchases or events and track expenses within allocated budgets.
Coordinate communication and logistics for emergencies, including informing stakeholders and documenting responses.
Update and distribute the boarding handbooks and relevant documents to ensure accurate and up-to-date information.
Support audits or inspections related to boarding standards, such as safeguarding or accreditation visits.
7. Training and Policy Development
Support the induction process for new boarding students, providing them with necessary information and resources.
Assist in training new boarding staff on policies, procedures, and best practices.
Provide feedback to the Head of Boarding on potential improvements or adjustments to boarding practices.
8. Event Planning and Coordination
Help organise special events for the boarding community, such as cultural celebrations, holiday gatherings, or graduation events.
Coordinate logistics for off-campus trips, ensuring transportation, permissions, and risk assessments are in place.
9. Professional Development
Stay informed about best practices in boarding care and student well-being through training, workshops, or conferences.
Share new insights and ideas with the boarding team to continually improve the boarding experience
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
Experience supporting adolescents or young people in an academic setting.
Experience working with adolescents in a residential setting.
Strong ability to communicate in written and verbal English.
Proficiency in computer skills and a willingness to develop further in this area.Personal Attributes and Characteristics
